When you submit a VIN, the service processes the VIN and the vehicle-history information needed to produce a report. Depending on the connected data providers, this may include vehicle specifications, mileage records, recalls, auction or listing events, damage indicators, market references.
We aim to avoid collecting names, addresses, phone numbers or other unnecessary personal information through the VIN checker.
We process the submitted information to provide the requested vehicle-history search, prevent abuse of the service, maintain security, troubleshoot failures and, where applicable, fulfil a purchase and provide a paid report.
Depending on the activity, processing may rely on performance of a contract or steps requested before entering into a contract, legitimate interests such as security and service operation, or another lawful basis required by applicable law.
Vehicle data may be obtained from public or licensed/authorised sources and API providers. Provider-specific terms and licensing restrictions apply to their data. Where personal data is obtained from another source, applicable transparency requirements may require information about its source.
We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, security, customer support, accounting or legal obligations. Retention periods should be configured before launch according to the operator's actual business and legal requirements.
